CAIB 2 Course - New Edition

Inclusive Dates: February 21 to 22 and February 28 to March 1, 2026 (Two consecutive weekends) Registration and payment gives you access to both weekend sessions.

Session timing: 9:00AM to 3:00PM MST.

During registration you will be given two options for purchase:

  • Physical Text, Digital Text, Digital Suite, and Exam enrollment
  • Digital Text, Digital Suite, and Exam enrollment

All digital content (text and practice material) will only be available for 18 months from the date of purchase. Your exam must be booked and written within 12 months of purchase.

Upon enrollment, you will be granted access to the digital material within 2 business days, any physical text will arrive within 5 business days. We recommend taking this into account during registration, so you give yourself enough time to prepare for the course.

CAIB 2 New Edition – Course Overview

CAIB 2 builds on the fundamentals introduced in CAIB 1 by focusing on the principles and applications of commercial insurance in Canada. Through eight in-depth modules, learners gain a strong understanding of commercial property, liability, and automobile insurance, as well as the legal and professional considerations that impact commercial risk. This course equips learners with the knowledge required to support commercial clients and prepare for the CAIB 2 exam.

Course Modules

  • Module 1 - Introduction to Commercial Property Insurance – Purpose, structure, and key concepts of commercial property insurance.
  • Module 2 - Commercial Property Insurance Forms – Standard commercial property policy forms and coverage structures.
  • Module 3 - Commercial Property Insurance: Exclusions and Additional Coverages – Common exclusions and optional coverages that modify or extend protection.
  • Module 4 - Roles Involved with Commercial Property Insurance – Responsibilities of brokers, insurers, underwriters, and other stakeholders.
  • Module 5 - The Law in Canada – Legal principles and regulations affecting commercial insurance.
  • Module 6 - Commercial General Liability Policy – Coverage, structure, and intent of the CGL policy.
  • Module 7 - Commercial General Liability Policy: Exclusions – Key exclusions that limit or clarify CGL coverage.
  • Module 8 - Commercial Automobile Insurance – Policies, coverages, and considerations for commercial auto risks.

Instructor/Facilitator | Wayne Briggs

Wayne Briggs has over 45 years of Underwriting, Management and Training experience, combining technical knowledge with management, marketing, loss control, fleet safety, and risk analysis. Wayne worked for several major insurance companies over the years, underwriting, advising, or managing for all classes of automobile risks: private, government, public, rental, and programs.

Wayne has also worked with Insurance Institute for over 35 years, teaching, tutoring, marking exams, and part of Ambassador Program doing school visits and explaining careers in the Insurance Industry. He also was lead co-author of the updated C48 – Automobile Part II textbook and a Chapter author for another textbook on what makes for a good Commercial Automobile Submissions.

All purchases of the CAIB New Edition content are final sale. In the event that a course is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be given the option of transferring your purchase to an upcoming course, or receive a refund for the difference in price between Self-Study and your chosen course.
