CAIB 1 Course - New Edition

  • Instructor-Led Class, Course Materials (Digital and Physical Text) and Online Exam Access (including exam proctoring)  Member: $1200 / Non-Member $1700
  • Digital Course Materials(No Physical Text) & Online Exam Access (including exam proctoring) Member: $950 / Non-Member $1450

Location: Online via Zoom

Inclusive Dates: January 24 to 25 and January 31 to February 1, 2026 (Two consecutive weekends) Registration and payment gives you access to both weekend sessions.

Session timing: 9:00AM to 3:00PM MST.

During registration you will be given two options for purchase:

  • Physical Text, Digital Text, Digital Suite, and Exam enrollment
  • Digital Text, Digital Suite, and Exam enrollment

All digital content (text and practice material) will only be available for 18 months from the date of purchase. Your exam must be booked and written within 12 months of purchase.

Upon enrollment, you will be granted access to the digital material within 2 business days, any physical text will arrive within 5 business days. We recommend taking this into account during registration, so you give yourself enough time to prepare for the course.

CAIB 1 New Edition – Course Overview

CAIB 1 introduces the core principles of insurance, the role of brokers, and the fundamentals of personal lines coverages in Canada. Through 15 modules, learners gain the essential knowledge needed to start their insurance career and prepare for the CAIB 1 exam.

Course Modules

  • Module 1 - Purpose of Insurance Contracts – Why insurance exists and how risk is transferred.
  • Module 2 - Understanding Insurance Contracts – Key elements that make insurance contracts valid.
  • Module 3 - Insurance Landscape – Overview of insurers, brokers, and industry stakeholders.
  • Module 4 - Regulation of Insurance Brokers – Licensing requirements and professional standards.
  • Module 5 - Canadian Legal System – How laws and regulations impact insurance.
  • Module 6 - Automobile Insurance: Coverage & Applications – Mandatory coverages and application basics.
  • Module 7 - Automobile Insurance: Policies & Endorsements – Standard auto policies and add-ons.
  • Module 8 - Habitational Insurance: Introduction – Core concepts of property insurance.
  • Module 9 - Homeowner Insurance – Coverage included in homeowner package policies.
  • Module 10 - Habitational Extensions & Endorsements – Optional add-ons to enhance coverage.
  • Module 11 - Other Habitational Policies – Tenant, condo, and mobile home insurance.
  • Module 12 - Personal Liability Insurance – Protection against personal liability exposures.
  • Module 13 - Farm Insurance – Coverages for farms, property, and operations.
  • Module 14 - Underwriting & Claims – How risks are assessed and claims handled.
  • Module 15 Travel Medical Insurance – Emergency medical coverage for travel.

Instructor/Facilitator | Sasha Sather, CAIB (Hons) 

Sasha Sather brings over a decade of dynamic experience in the insurance industry, with a career marked by excellence, leadership, and a deep commitment to professional growth. Originally from Saskatchewan, Sasha began her journey in Alberta as a claims adjuster before transitioning to a broker role in 2016. Her dedication to the craft quickly stood out—earning the top mark in Canada for her CAIB Designation in 2017, followed by her CIP designation in 2020.

Sasha’s leadership skills were recognized when she became Branch Manager of Drayden Insurance Ltd.’s Morinville location, where she fostered team development and operational success. In 2025, she stepped into a strategic role as Commercial Underwriting and Account Manager, serving as the pen for Drayden’s program business across eight branches.

Known for her sharp technical knowledge, practical insights, and approachable teaching style, Sasha is passionate about empowering others in the industry to grow their confidence and capabilities. Whether mentoring new professionals or leading advanced training, she brings clarity, warmth, and real-world expertise to every session.

All purchases of the CAIB New Edition content are final sale. In the event that a course is cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be given the option of transferring your purchase to an upcoming course, or receive a refund for the difference in price between Self-Study and your chosen course.
