Also known as the Designated Representative (DR), as a Level 3 broker you will have the technical insurance knowledge of a Level 2 broker and have full authority to act in the capacity of a manager or operator of a brokerage firm. Your Level 3 application will be considered for approval only if you have held a Level 2 license for a minimum of 24 months within 36 months of the date of application. Only one DR is permitted per brokerage. A brokerage cannot operate without a DR.

AIC Exam

IBAA provides insurance courses and study material. For the exam, register with the Alberta Insurance Council (AIC). AIC needs your CIPR #, so if you don't have one, obtain it first from the Canadian Insurance Participant Registry.

To write the Level 1 Licensing exam you will be required to complete the GLQP exam found in the Litmos online tool provided after registering.
