As the frequency and severity of wildfires persists, it is important for Brokers to understand the risks associated with these natural disasters when evaluating and assessing commercial property. We want to help Brokers enhance their knowledge in this area, which in turn will enable them to make informed decisions regarding risk assessment.

From climate change and forest management to human behaviour and regional population growth, many factors contribute to increased wildfire occurrences and risks. Wildfires, also referred to as forest fires, can have extreme fire behaviour that can negatively impact human health, the economy, and the natural environment. As wildfires continue to pose significant risks to Canadian businesses and communities, understanding how to prepare and respond effectively is critical. It’s imperative for commercial property owners to be proactive in their wildfire preparedness and response strategies. We will discuss practical, proactive strategies commercial property owners can implement to mitigate potential wildfire damage, ensure the safety of employees and assets, and ensure an effective response. Our goal is to educate Brokers so that they can in turn pass this knowledge on to their insureds
